Virtualstock, a leading provider of digital supply chain solutions, announces today that it has signed a partnership with C+D Data. This move is part of Virtualstock’s on-going commitment to data quality, building on their recently established world-class GTIN validation capabilities.
C+D Data is the only nationally centralised pharmacy product catalogue service focused on providing manufacturer product data to the UK pharmacy market. They have a long history of working with over 1,200 manufacturers who supply the UK pharmacy market and making sure their product data is in the right place to facilitate eProcurement and supply chain processes. C+D Data includes vital product identifiers such as product GTINs, PIP Codes and NHS dm+d codes. Product data of this calibre enables product tracking, product recalls, accurate ordering and improving supply chain efficiencies and transparency. It also meets GS1 standards adhering to the mandated requirements laid out for hospital pharmacies in the NHS eProcurement Strategy.
The Edge4Health will now list a full range of pharmacy products on its platform including prescription medications (Branded & Generics), OTC medications, dressings and appliances. NHS Trusts using the platform will now see over 80,000 products listed on their platform in one place, rather than across multiple product catalogues. This is part of an ongoing expansion of products available on the platform, which streamlines the eProcurement process for trusts saving both time and money, and is revolutionising how current procurement systems operate.
Adam Smith, Business Manager at C+D Data said, “working with Virtualstock is really exciting for us and we look forward to this partnership offering hospital pharmacy a new and modern eProcurement environment and supply chain service for the future”.
It is widely recognised that current procurement environment and systems are not fit for purpose, with NHS Trusts and suppliers still relying on paper-and-pen transactions and multiple product catalogues to complete orders. The NHS could save up to £5bn through procurement efficiencies alone, a fair proportion of the £22 billion in total efficiency savings the NHS has been asked to make by 2020.
Rob Knott, Chief Strategy Officer at Virtualstock, said “Our vision of creating a comprehensive, national product data ecosystem for the NHS is becoming a reality. The partnership with C+D delivers a vital component of this important initiative.”
Virtualstock’s Vice President and General Manager of Healthcare and Public Sector, James Thirkill said “Virtualstock are committed to putting data quality at the heart of procurement systems across the NHS. Our enhanced data capabilities and expanding product platform are testament to our work to improve product safety, and streamline orders, which will result in greater efficiency savings for the NHS”
